Vikki Reynolds joins the Keynote Lineup for 2018 Conference

The Child and Youth Care Association of BC (CYCABC) is pleased to announce that acclaimed speaker, Vikki Reynolds (PhD Social Science, Tilburg University), will be joining us at the 2018 International & Canadian National CYC Conference as a keynote speaker.

Beloved trainer, speaker and consultant hailing from Vancouver, BC – Vikki lives and works on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish – (xʷməθkwəy̓əm [Musqueam], Sḵwx̱wú7mesh [Squamish], and Səl̓ílwətaʔ [Tsleil-Waututh] – nations). The CYCABC is excited to welcome a powerful speaker on social justice work to inform our learning stream on ‘Child and Youth Care as advocates and activists’.

Vikki’s experience includes consulting, training and clinical supervision with refugees and survivors of torture, mental health and substance abuse counsellors, rape crisis counsellors, frontline and housing workers and transgender and queer communities. She has developed curriculum and taught Group Work, Trauma, and Diversity courses at Vancouver Community CollegeAdler University and the University of British Columbia. She received the Dean’s Award for Distinguished Instructor from City University where she has taught for more than ten years. Vikki has presented her work internationally in Australia, New Zealand, U.S., and Ireland.

The Child and Youth Care Association of British Columbia, along with the Canadian Council of Child and Youth Care Associations, invites you to join us for the 20th National and 12th Triennial International Child and Youth Care Conference, on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples (Richmond, BC).

This conference will include 3 full convening days and an Educators’ Day filled with empowering opportunities to learn, share, network, and be inspired!

Experienced CYC Practitioner Maureen Thompson, BA CYC will share some wisdom about how to take care of ourselves so we can take care of others. Recent events in her workplace highlighted the importance of this for herself and colleagues.
